What is PowerChute Network Software? PowerChute Network is a family of software agents that help protect IT systems during power problems. It makes sure everything shuts down safely and automatically as well as enabling unattended start-up so businesses don’t lose data or experience unnecessary downtime. Who needs PowerChute Network software? PowerChute Network is designed for any business that relies on technology to stay up and running, including: offices, stores, schools, hospitals, branch locations and any IT team managing equipment across one or many sites. Why are PowerChute Network Agents critical for business continuity? Unplanned power events can disrupt critical IT operations, leading to downtime, data loss, and recovery challenges. Protection against them should be part of your business continuity and resilience strategy for all critical IT workloads. What is PowerChute Network Shutdown? PowerChute Network Shutdown is designed for server rooms and virtualized IT environments. For physical servers and traditional virtual setups, it is installed directly on servers or virtual machines. For modern hyperconverged (HCI) clusters, it runs on a dedicated machine to coordinate safe system shutdowns. A virtual appliance option is also available, allowing deployment without installing software on each server. It helps protect your systems by safely shutting them down during power events, reducing the risk of data loss in virtualized environments. What do I need to use PowerChute Network Shutdown? PowerChute Network Shutdown requires a PowerChute Network subscription and a UPS Network Management Card 3. For Windows or Linux servers, a PowerChute Network subscription is not required Does my PowerChute Network subscription include access to the Secure NMC System Tool? Yes, your PowerChute Network subscription includes the Secure NMC System Tool access. The SNS Tool enables access to the latest NMC3 firmware and proactive cybersecurity management. How do I use PowerChute Network Shutdown? You can use PowerChute Network Shutdown by first downloading and installing the version that matches your environment, whether it is Windows, Linux, or a virtual appliance. After installation, the PowerChute agent must be configured to safeguard your IT infrastructure. To enable protection for virtualized and hyperconverged environments, you will need an active PowerChute Network subscription.
